Our Purpose

We’re cricket enthusiasts and our purpose is to maintain and enhance our junior cricketing community while honouring the traditions associated with cricket.

We give children the opportunity to play cricket in a fun and inclusive environment. We want to foster a lifelong love of cricket by helping children to develop their skills on and off the field, learning to play with integrity and respectfully.

Our Way

Fun & continuous learning – We take a fun first approach to junior cricket, encouraging our players to have fun, learn new skills, and take risks. As part of this, we support our players to learn how to be a good teammate.  As a club we take a zero-tolerance approach to discouraging or criticising players.

Outcomes over outputs - We focus on player engagement, enjoyment, leadership, and contributions above individual performance statistics. We measure our success by seeing players return each season and supporting a successful transition to college cricket.

Inclusive & safe – We foster participation in a safe and fun environment so that all players can be their best, develop their skills and most importantly enjoy themselves. We are inclusive and provide fair and equal opportunities for all our players.

Collaborative - We work collaboratively with Cricket Wellington, local cricket and other sporting clubs - sharing ideas and solving common problems to create strong player pathways and positive experiences for our players and all cricketers.

Volunteering - There are lots of opportunities for caregivers and supporters to get involved, including volunteering on the committee, scoring, umpiring, and coaching. KJCC has a focus on strong and supportive leadership and caregiver involvement to enhance our player pathways and club development.

Legacy – We build on the club's history and culture by promoting Karori Junior Cricket, working closely with the Senior Club to support player and coach development, and building a strong pathway for our junior players to play for the Senior Club. This includes encouraging former players to stay connected and give back to the club by volunteering their skills.
